Is the financial crisis a security issue?

The current financial crisis is a security issue because the economy has such a big influence in our nation's overall stability. The more money our government spends bailing out financial institutions, the less amount of money they are spending on our military and defense. This can go so far as to limit our future intelligence capabilities compared to other countries, especially since we are in the middle of fighting a war, and with Russia acting up again. Also, the more money we borrow from other countries the more in debt we are to them and the more we have to rely on others. This threatens our national security because it ties us to other countries who may, or may not like us. For example, our country has borrowed a lot of money from China.

The financial crisis is a global security issue because our stock market is so closely connected to so many other countrie's economies. Trade is a big part of our economy and with our economy the way it is today, the dollar is weak compared to a lot of other currencies. This is bad for our country because it lowers our economis standing in the world, which lowers our legitimacy as a world superpower. We will continue to lose money and jobs with a bad economy. The fact that we have to get help from other countries to stabalize/maintain our economy is dangerous.
